Summer is the season for smoothies. I love them because they are quick and easy to make. You can pack nutritious things in them. And it’s a bonus that no cooking is required! Sometimes they are filling enough to be a meal replacement. People are always asking me for more smoothie recipes, so…here we go!
Try my healthy, nutrient dense Strawberry Banana Lime Smoothie. Strawberries, banana, spinach, almond milk, lime juice and some chia seeds. Lime pairs nicely with the strawberry and banana to give this smoothie a refreshing taste.
If you like to load up on other goodies in your smoothie, I suggest adding 2 scoops of collagen powder and a tablespoon of MCT oil for some good brain fats and support for your joints tendons and ligaments.
This smoothie is perfect for breakfast or a healthy snack to keep your body going. As an added bonus, this smoothie is full of fiber, is very high in potassium and contains no refined sugars.
Add a little maple syrup if you have a sweet tooth or if you’re serving to children.
This recipe is naturally gluten, grain and dairy-free. It is paleo and vegan friendly.
How to Store this Strawberry Banana Lime Smoothie
This smoothie is best if consumed right away. Store in the fridge if you can’t drink it right away. The juice will naturally separate as it sits. Give it a good shake before serving.
Strawberry Banana Lime Smoothie
Equipment
-
1 High speed blender
-
1 large smoothie glass
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 medium banana
- 1/2 cup spinach
- 1 lime juiced (or 1.5 Tbsp bottled)
- 1.5 cup unsweetened almond milk or other non-dairy milk
- 1 tbsp chia seeds optional
Instructions
-
In a high speed blender, add all ingredients. Blend on high until smooth.
-
Pour into a large smoothie glass. Drink immediately.
Notes
Substitute kale for spinach. You may need to add a touch of maple syrup or monk fruit sweetener to overcome the bitter taste of the kale.
If you have a sweet tooth or you are feeding this smoothie to a child, add 1 Tbsp (or more) of maple syrup.
Smoothie tastes best if it is consumed right away.
